Rooftop Haven
Mexican Beach pebbles...commonly available at landscape supply shops (possibly even big box hardware store with garden center).
I like the planters with the stones but different plants - like the ones at W Residences and shinny rocks
Top mulch pots with river rock
like ghe rocks with moss formthe bamboo planter
Boxed garden with bamboo would add privacy for the roof and beautiful white noise of the leaves to drown out the Dhaka cacophony.

Floor seems like treated light concrete
I like the idea of rocks beside the window to keep dirt out asuch as possible
dark. Light bamboo colors with the darker wood floors. The light from the panels is calming.

Crystal Springs Road
Contemporary base topped off with Japanese style roof and surrounded by rock garden with pebble paths.
I love the asian style of gardens. The contrast between rock, pathway, and all the various kinds of natural growth make a great relaxing and almost exclusive feel.
"We fill our gardens with dense plantings, they spread out a flat expanse of grass."Tanizaki sums up the contrast between East and West as being satisfied with one's surroundings versus the determination to improve one's lot, respectively. This garden in San Francisco illustrates the cultural cross-
rather than something that permeates thought and experience. Tanizaki gives those willing an excellent primer for learning to appreciate the shadows of light and life.

Japanese Inspired Remodel in Noe Valley-Exterior
insert blood grass into an existing planting or let it be the star, there is certainly a place for it in your mild-climate garden. Give it a try, but if you’re a Southern gardener, keep close watch that you don’t have a thug on your hands!More: Great Design Grasses

gravel courtyard
is a cool way to create an interest point in the garden, either some stepping stones or a different color pebble display.... Let's play with it. It can be a fine line between cool and 70's rock garden.

Asian-style Waterfall
How can i get my garden to look like this?
should we ever do a fountain....nice light placement
Flat rocks and river rock on bottom
Rocks in pond & Japanese maple
Don't want this-don't like the rocks or the maple. Looks cold
Could we make a waterfall somewhere in our gardens around the house somehow?
If you know red in the garden, then you have probably met a Japanese maple. With cut leaves so intricate, they almost look like blood-tinged lace, Japanese maple makes a statement loud and clear. Pair your maple with understated evergreens, rocks and greens for the best show. How to grow
