Can you tell us if this patio is out of real stone or porcelain tile a
big stone incorporated into patio stones
Rocks intruding on patio in Japanese style, pebble surround
This patio is full of interest. Why? Because it exemplifies juxtaposition. The boulder rises from the stone patio like a volcano rises from the sea. Both the boulder and the pavers are related by means of material
shape and texture but contrast with regard to size and color. You may find that in juxtaposing two very dramatic elements, such as the boulder and the patio here, one element of similarity may be just enough.

This private entry patio was designed to block out the noise from a busy street. It also added a security aspect with twelve foot high walls. Patio entry, fountain and stone work designed and constructed by Colas Moore Artisan Group. Photo: George Gutenberg

the skylights in the patio roof to bring in the light and make the roof seem taller.
a way to cover back patio for privacy and increased use, without losing good light in kitchen?
I like the level of finish- for the extension of the living space to the outside (possible for our patio side)

We are about to pour a concrete patio and would like to use some bluestone as accent. What color is the concrete here? I'd like to make sure there is some contrast between the concrete

I recommend reaching out to a local landscape architect and have them design a patio appropriate for you. I would imagine bluestone to be available in your area. Bluestone in Chicago comes from NY and PA
