but with insulation. I have been told that removing the insulation would increase my heating bill and that sound would travel. Would like to have access to the ceiling, but don't want to put up an ugly looking metal frame with panels. Any suggestions
Exposed ceiling...different a cheaper but may cost to move all the stuff. No drops and easy access to everything

Daobrien: In addition to Case's response, that is a removable toe kick on the bottom of the cabinet (actually velcro'd on for easy access/maintenance.)
