When you remodel your basement, you insulate using spray foam or 2" foam board (xps like dow or owens corning) on exterior wall and something like Roxul batts inside the wall framing. Make sure you insulate the floor too, 1 inch foam board (R5) minimal. Do not use fiberglass batts. After that, open ceiling
