What is the best way to mount and secure a large piece of wood to a wall to make into a desk without using a counter of table legs?

Notice the filler piece on the right hand side of the picture? If it were custom you would not see these filler pieces. I think what really makes this space special and "feel" custom is the architecture- being tucked under an eyebrow dormer. The view helps too!
