My basement wall is stone, an old barn originally from 1748, but currently stud with sheetrock and insulated. I want to expose the wall but, even though forced-air heating is good, still concerned the rooms are going to be too
Are the lamps mounted on the wall or are they standing on a nightstand? Hard to tell from the photo. Where are they from? Thanks
efforts were made to keep it looking old. These windows help to give the wall interest on the interior and exterior of the building, while providing light and views.
Wondering if the window was already there in the stone wall or if it was added in and why?
If the wall is solid stone, then it will reduce your efficiency a great deal if you remove the insulation. If the wall is thicker than say 18", then you will have some benefit from thermal mass. If the temperature

Yes the stone tile does have some weight to it, as does the mortar setting, but this was planned for in the design of the framing. This is a good question to ask - and certainly something to think through if you were

Usually you can get these at your local hardware store. Ask their advice as to what anchors to use. It is easier to drill into the mortar between the

what is on the wall of this room?
I'd say its' stone for sure. How they would normally do this is have the stone on the wall set on top it and support it until the mortar is hard, then remove the support. The hearth looks a lot like harvest straw. http://www.houzz.com/photos/1842517/Harvest-Straw-details
love the texture of the wall & warmth of the room!
