Awesome Log Cabin
We live in an old log home. The inside logs are rough and very dry. Dust is hard to control. How do I make the logs look like the ones in the picture? Looking at a DIY project.
what color is the stain of the logs?
What color of stain is on the logs?
is an old question, but for anyone new, I also had a 30 year old log cabin with very dull dusty logs. They were so hard to clean. I had a contractor come in and clean and add a clear gloss stain to the living room/kitchen . It was a log cabin stain, Lifeline. It cost a fortune and we had to leave the
bottle and tried it in a closet....and waited two or three weeks. It worked great! I couldn't believe it. For the upstairs bedrooms, I washed the logs with a wet rag and mild soap, then rinsed with a wet rag. I waited a week or twoo to make sure they were dry, then applied the ProShot (rubber gloves

nothing like a log cabin as a backdrop. This bedroom by Teto Heritage Builders looks almost as if it is from a bygone era.

The chinking in this home has been applied to round, peeled logs. Chinking needs to be waterproof, long lasting and flexible, to allow for the logs' expansion and movement.

How do you clean the logs?
We moved into our 30 year old log cabin 1 month ago? I am having a hard time finding the best solution to cleaning those logs. Rags tend to get caught on the rustic slivers.
What is the stain color used on the log wall ? The logs are beautiful
I clean our logs with Murphy Oil in hot water. About 1/4 cup to a gallon or more. Wash then rinse lightly. Oils help maintain the logs.
We bought an old, small log home which needed significant cleaning due to years of non-use, smells, and potential hantavirus (from mice). Before we moved in I
I cleaned every darn log in that place with a scrub brush, some multi-purpose cleaner (like Mr. Clean), and hot water. This may not have been the correct way to clean the logs, but it worked, and did not do any damage to the logs at all.

The arch of stone. Do NOT like the log mantle
Log. A log mantel like this one almost one-ups a railroad tie for authentic rustic style. The log pictured here has had a portion of the top carefully sawed off to create the perfect shelf-like platform. Design tip: While installation might be tricky, finding a log of your own to use for a mantel is
