I think it's very effective in this room but I wonder if it is cork tile?

This is cork tile. Cheap, and could go all the way down to the molding. When the bar is done, I would take the stained
molding we do the bar and drink rails in and "frame" the cork tiles to tie them into the overarching Cherry board theme, so this would be "half done" for some time.
