Transitional Master Bath
utilizes all natural materials including, walnut cabinetry, stacked stone wall tile, honed slate flooring with pebble “rug” insert and custom teak ceiling detail. By floating the cabinetry, additional lighting was able to be included providing a unique “night-light” effect in the evening hours.
What species of wood is the ceiling and where did you source it please?

We have a 25' pitched ceiling - any ideas for lighting over an island?
We think the only option we have is to set up cross beams (somewhat of a pergola-type structure) to accommodate wiring over a kitchen island with a chalet ceiling 25' high. Are there any other options?

I used the opportunity to drop the ceiling to create a way to hang the curtains - with a continuous HVAC convector cover the hanging curtains can be a conundrum. We used drywall reveals to create the small steps on the plane of the ceiling. You can see one of the recessed
Thankyou for such a detailed response. I have always loved the look of drapes hanging from behind ceiling. In saying this, is the track on the ceiling or the wall and is there a difficulty installing the track and the curtain due to room to use drills etc? This is a beautifully put together room.

Vintage barn frame addition to Dutch stone house
The old hayloft was removed and the 200 year old frame - cleaned, refinished & stabilized - now opens to the rafters. A dormer in the ceiling lets in more light. photo: scott benedict practical(ly) studios
If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me the dimensions of this space. In particular, I am curious about the width of the room, the wall and ceiling heights, and the roof pitch. I have a client who is having a hard time imagining volume based on elevations and I would love to give her a basis for

Go low. Short furniture pulls double duty in a kids' attic bedroom by balancing the scale of sloped ceilings and creating perfectly sized
