The wall is drywall and paint. The wall you see reflected in the mirror is a linen closet, so that is painted wood.
Regular drywall behind the mirror. The mirror is custom made, then to exactly fit the space. Yes, it's flush with the wall. Pretty simple.

Master Bathroom
ceiling is an oval infill with 12x12 mirrors with beveled edges - these are then surrounded by plaster detailing. Surrounding the center mirror is 5/8" drywall which is stepped back with a "z bead" edge for a crisp line. The chandelier is from Filsinger Showroom in Chicago with a polished nickel finish.

to drop the ceiling to create a way to hang the curtains - with a continuous HVAC convector cover the hanging curtains can be a conundrum. We used drywall reveals to create the small steps on the plane of the ceiling. You can see one of the recessed lights near the top of the image.
You can easily achieve the same detail by using a drywall reveal from Fry Reglet. Essentially you are laminating additional layers of sheetrock and using the reveal to finish the edge. The reading is as if
