consumption of a house. “This house was designed to Passive House principles” means that the architect and builder, of their own accord, decided to pursue a set of measurable building standards that promote low-energy consumption. The term originated from Germany’s “Passivhaus.” “This house is a certified

View Ridge Residence
View Ridge House is a speculative residence above Sandpoint in Seattle. Construction was completed in May 2007 and the house sold in five days. The VR House is raised above an existing concrete foundation to take advantage of Lake Washington views but it was important that the scale of the house fit into
The houses form is broken into two gabled volumes linked by a central stair. The central atrium floods the interior with day light and is the focus of the open spaces of the house. Exterior rain-screen fiber cement panels and board and batten siding further reduce the apparent volume of the house. Front
Front and rear decks and trellises encourage the use of the land around the house. The 3,400 s.f. house was designed by Rhodes Architecture + Light with PAO Engineering, LightWire, Lighting Design, and was built by Summit Development LLC.

Riverside Residence
The new house sits back from the suburban road, a pipe-stem lot hidden in the trees. The owner/building had requested a modern, clean statement of his residence. A single rectangular volume houses the main program: living, dining, kitchen to the north, garage, private bedrooms and baths to the south
places: entry, stair, music room and master bath. The modern vocabulary of the house is a careful delineation of the parts - cantilevering roofs lift and extend beyond the planar stucco, siding and glazed wall surfaces. Where the house meets ground, crushed stone along the perimeter base mimics the roof lines
of lawn held away from the foundation. It's the movement through the volumes of space, along surfaces, and out into the landscape, that unifies the house. ProArc Photography

How much per square foot did it cost to build this house? Thank you
I think this looks great. I am working on a house that calls for a 16'" I truss
look of our boring house into something like this picture with a shed style roof and the combined use of wood, steel, glass and stone. What can I expect to spend on that type of project? Can NW contemporary be "affordable"?
Do you have a section of that center part of the house with the large roof
extended brow roof. I am concerned that on my property because I live on a hillside that rainwater will saturate the hillside on the back side of the house. The land has been graded and compacted so should I be without worry ( during the unusually heavy rainstorms approx. six years agoI had a mudslide due
