gas fireplace in the photo above is about 32" tall, the tiled surround and trim is about 8" high (6" tiles + 2" trim), the orange bit of wall is about 5" high, the mantel shelf header is about 9" high and the shelf itself is about 1 1/2" thick. So, the total is about 55 1/2" +/-. I would say that 54"
hearth, all bets are off, because you have to reconcile the relative distance from the top of the hearth with your overall desired height.
