We like the fireplace built I to the wall idea you pinned. This one need some imagination but the ledges on the sides might be nice. Overall I like your pin better.

I have built over a dozen estate homes and have had only two clients where a blue painted ceiling was selected. I was concerned about the color selection until it was painted and it looked great! "Don't be scared of color", as my wife always says. I now recomend on the estate and traditional homes that
Painted porch floor and ceiling. Both colors are standard Southern porch colors. The blue for the ceiling is traditional and functional since blue repels wasps, or so the lore goes. The gray floor is porch gray, which hides dirt and pollen in the spring.
The blue ceiling we don't know. It is kind of a traditional color used on porch ceilings to keep away the mud dauber wasps called haint blue. The floor is basic benjamin moore epoxy deck paint. We often use
