Planks are attached to treated pine joists painted with a waterproof membrane to protect against moisture in such a damp setting. They are fixed with 14g bugle screws. The curve is achieved with straight cut ends and some tapered length cut boards as seen in pic. Substrate is built in segments also.

Let grasses dominate the ground plane. This garden uses Carex in a simplified mass to dominate the ground plane. Punctuations of agave add to the artful approach of this planting design. Over the top, yes. But that's the fun thing about designing a side garden. You have the element of surprise in your favor. I doubt that many of us would think of placing two huge pedestal urns along a walkway, and then planting them with tropicals and palms that spill over the rim. The treatment works
