Hi there - on the left side of the path, there is groundcover Sedum, Acorus gramineus 'Ogon' and Campanula 'Birch Hybrid'. The right side of this path gets more sun and is under an eave, so there are drought tolerant plants such as Sedum, Thyme

Hi there - thanks! The gravel path is lined with heavy grade weed cloth - seams overlapped & pinned down. Gravel is 3" deep and a clean gravel, not a minus gravel, so no small particles

If you like the thought of gravel but feel that it may look too stark, try adding a path of scattered stones or pavers. Side note: you may hear that gravel has a tendency to find its way into the house if it gets in the tread of your shoes, although I have not had any personal issues with my large area
