Hi, could you tell me if the fire place in bump-in ou bump-out? It looks like 1/2 each in the picture. What about the material? Thank you
The room is insulated. There is icynene - a spray foam insulation - behind the boards of the ceiling. It is great insulation for a home in a high fire area
A bump-out fireplace is one where the firebox extends outside of the house. A bump-in is where it extends into a room. With this fireplace the front of the fire box is flush with the interior wall - the box extends back into the exterior wall. You would see "a bump"
project - the one with the front door - you will see the "bump-out" for the fireplace and chimney.) It is only the fire surround that extends into the room. The fire surround is finished with plaster.
