The stone we used on this house is called "Arizona Brown Schist". It is a stone material local to Arizona so we use it often on our desert designs. The stone is installed in a "dry stacked" manner to enhance the depth of the material.

Glad you like the design! This fire pit has a crushed stone base that also acts as a drainage layer. It is down about 15"-18" from the pool deck. This is a real wood burning fire pit.
