What color did you paint the exterior walls?
Why does an "exposed" wall (similar to the one in your photograph) cost more than one not exposed? Do you mean because it is using ground face CMU with the sealer and better looking joints? Thank you
It is a solid block that has not voids. It is placed on top once the walls have been grouted solid
We did not line the cement masonry units (cmu) with anything but do recommend using sand as it allows any moister to flow to the bottom and also keeps the heat off the exterior surface as well.

This sand finished uncolored concrete (regular gray) was finished using Topcast #3, which is applied to the concrete when it is wet, then washed off the next day to reveal the sand in the concrete.

What is the material of the block wall in the foreground?
Is that a concrete block wall in an alternate proportion and more refined finish?
The wall is built with concrete block- 6" x 4" x 16"- with a standard concrete cap to match, well tooled joints, then sand blasted upon completion with coarse sand. The 4" h block gives a more refined look and the sand blasting softens the wall, revealing the aggregate colors.

The wall is actually a structural concrete retaining wall where the form boards (wood) were intentionally kept a 1/4"- 1/2" apart to allow for some of the concrete to "ooze" out and create the linear pattern. The concrete contractor didn't want to do it as it was
