The panel appears fixed and this is the exact problem I am currently facing. I don't want to get in the tub to turn on the water.

Cabinet doors next to range hood
How are these glass doors made to not bang into the stainless steel hood when opened? It's a beautiful look, but i have the same problem in my new kitchen
Mark I actually did the same thing... clear plastic bumpers on edge of hood. You can't even see them, and we don't swing the doors open carelessly, so it's been a year and absolutely no problem.
