of 3/8" steel plate - painted black with a 1.25" bamboo overlay for both tread and riser which is set onto the steel over small welded studs and glued. The steel plate is welded to a steel tube along the wall side which is concealed within the wall assembly and to a built up landing made of channels and
a bent steel plate welded to a steel tube embedded in the wall - and to a steel channel and plate assembly at the landing. treads are steel. They project out approximately four feet from the wall. Steel embed plates were formed into the concrete. The contractor did a fabulous job welding the treads on and getting them perfectly aligned so they appear to have been formed into the concrete.

- the steel is '[blackened' by a custom steel fabricator, it is a process not a finish (i.e. not paint) - hope this helps
