It’s doubtful a soul will walk past this staircase and not be drawn to this swimmer sculpture. It not only makes use of the oft forgotten-about space beneath the stairwell, but it fills it with an unexpected element. More unexpected art in home design

Can you tell me the material used for the fireplace? Beauty!
Did you drill into the handrail and then secure the balusters with glue or is there some kind of a bracket that was used to secure the balusters to the handrail?

The balusters are 1/2" x 1/2" square steel pickets. They support a 1 1/2" x 3/8" steel railing, which is capped with 2" x 3" or 4" mesquite (not sure which dimension was ultimately used). Not sure what
what you mean by the wall rail, but a similar treatment was used throughout.
What size are the balusters? They look round? On the top rail is that a flat bar with wood added to the top? If it is a bar what size did you use? On the wall rail is that a wood rails with brackets or is that a flat bar

Transparency can also be gained by a full glass wall, as in the case of this straight-run stair. Compare this stair with the first one in terms of the angle; I’m guessing this stair is easier on the leg muscles.
