Typical extensive green roof. Note the multiple components of the roofing system. The slower rate of runoff from a living roof allows more stormwater to percolate into the surrounding soil. A typical roof sheds water at high speed, increasing likelihood surface erosion. See more of this hillside

more environmentally friendly than concrete and stone as it allows rainwater to permeate through it into the ground rather than flowing into the stormwater system.

install a green roof to help cool the air around the house and mitigate stormwater runoff. In the middle of a field in Nova Scotia, that’s not necessary. So their roof is half green and half metal; rainwater is collected in a cistern for drinking water and bathing.

A permeable driveway encourages stormwater run off to infiltrate into the aquafer. An adjacent rain garden funnels rainwater off the roof into the garden, overflowing to the driveway in storm events.
these are permeable pavers called 'Rima' pavers. they are concrete but have a small joint/gap which allows stormwater to infiltrate into the sub-base below, making this a viable Low Impact Development technique. There are now many different permeable paver options out there so I would look around in
