The vertical board siding is Tight Knot Western Red Cedar. The horizontal lap siding is integral color Fiber Cement. We used 'Cembonit', but it's not currently available. An alternate would be 'SwissPearl'. Thank you for your interest!

Yes, those plants will all do well as long as you have enough moisture e.g. western red cedar & alder forest not doug fir. Planting under any large trees is tough with root competition, but moisture seekers like western reds and alders tend to colonize in wetter areas - so even with the root competition
