The basement route is a good way to start the tour of the interior. In the previous photo we could actually see through the door to the wood wall lining the north wall of the stair hall. To get upstairs we move through a threshold in the fieldstone wall.

Installed properly, A deck can be built at ground level. Yes, wood and composites need air movement beneath them. The correct care needs to be taken when installing the frame and the decking. Proper drainage should be accounted
always a chance that the boards could start cupping because of the difference in moisture levels from the underside of the board to the top. The only wood we would ever install at ground level is 5/4 IPE because of its stability. Thanks for the question!
