Does anyone know what the span is between the batten? Is it 12" of board between each batten?

guess that yes, it's 12". We just had the front porch gable on our new Craftsman house sided in board and batten, it looks exactly like this, and the batts are,12" apart. Our builder said since the board material (that he works with, anyway) comes in 12" widths, there's a seam every 12" that the batts
I am currently painting my house Amherst Gray (Benjamin Moore) and it looks very similar to the house pictured. I am using hardie board & batten and shakes. Our material was primed not pre-painted. If you like a color with a brown/khaki look, consider Tawny Taupe by Sherwin Williams

What color paint was used on the Hardie board on the 2nd floor?

Beautiful Wenge Countertop and cutting board. Is that a Kallista sink?
