Is there a crack in the concrete floor in this picture? If so, was it intended, or related to the weight of the fireplace? Thx
Hello and thanks for the question about the concrete. This cast in place floor is standard concrete. It was then ground and polished to our desired sheen, and then a dye treatment was applied before the floor was sealed. We
filling epoxy and were then ground and polished with the floor. In this photo, the crack has absolutely nothing to do with the weight of the fireplace.
Hello and thank you for your question. There are a few cracks in this, and all concrete floors. It is part of the nature of this material, and it becomes part of the surface's character. The cracks here were filled with a special filling

Most of what you're seeing in this photo is cast concrete wall. The texture and colour are surprisingly warm. In the lower left corner, you can see a bit of the gloss white cabinets from the kitchen.
How are the concrete walls with moisture? Is it concrete through and through from exterior all to interior?
Hi Tanya. May I have the contact of the concrete contractor that did the walls. Cheers. M

being heated by the gas fireplace, goes up and back to the room via the upper vent.
Hello, I have enquired about your ceiling before and it just occurred to me to ask - Why use the cast concrete? Why not use wood? Isn't
It's a built-in fireplace bought from a local dealer - Ortal: http://ortal-heat.com/
The ceiling is actually exposed concrete cast into a wooden-planks mold.
Isn't wood supposed to be more environmentally friendly and wouldn't the echo fact be better with wood? Is the concrete easier to install? I am very interested in your concrete ceiling (I love it!) and I always linger over it when it pops up. We will possibly do a very high ceiling in a reno and my architect
