Style Secret: Concrete SurfacesConcrete earns brownie (greenie?) points for several reasons. It's typically manufactured with local materials near its point of use, which makes for a smaller carbon footprint, and it doesn't require a ton of resources to make. It stores heat in warm weather and releases
comfy without blasting the furnace or AC. And it blocks air leaks to cut energy costs even further. Put it into practice: If a home made entirely from concrete doesn't appeal (and for most of us, it doesn't), use it just for the floors — you'll still enjoy a lot of the benefits. Worried that it won't jibe

stain did you use on the concrete floor?
what do you fill the cracks with on your concrete floor?
took out flooring and its plain old grey concrete, want to stain it with
I too would love to know how the brown concrete floor was done and the stain colour?? Thank you!
Usually on concrete floors, an acid stain is applied to the surface of the standard grey concrete flooring surface. The artisans use a paint sprayer, and apply the stains in a mist over the top layer of the concrete. We usually finish it off with a sealer and waxes
desired amount of sheen. Concrete is a great material for flooring - we embrace and look forward to variations, irregularities, and the patina that develops with wear over time so the cracks and chips (if repaired and filled) can add to the 'beauty marks' on your floor. Concrete gives you great longevity

What did you do with the concrete floors? Thanks.
Hello, Can you tell me after polishing the concrete, what type of coating (protection) you put on it? Is it epoxy? If yes, is it matt or glossy? Sorry my english is not very good, i'm
same floor look as the photo. Is power troweling enough or should we polish the floor and use epoxy?
no stain was used on the concrete floors. the dark mottling was achieved by power troweling.
throughout most of the house are polished concrete. As the slurry set, it was agitated with power trowels to give the surface a mottled patina.

what color stain is the concrete please? Is it stamped too? Water base or Acid base?
The concrete floor in this home was integral colored and not a surface "stained" finish. The concrete was then saw-cut into 3-4' square pattern, sealed and waxed. The color was San Juan Stone and can be seen here: http://www.cadman.com/section

I've had some mixed advice from people on whether or not to treat my newly poured concrete floors in my converted garage/entertaining area. I love the look of the natural concrete, but many have said that I'll be cleaning up dust all the time and that I should seal it in some way. What is your experience
Don't want a bunch of acrylic filler, yet not sure if regular cement will hold (and will it look like a bunch of blotches being lighter than the older concrete?). Thought about trying to sand the gouges down rather than fill. Did you face this problem in your project? If so, please let me know what you
you can use a planipatch and colour it to blend in with the floor. Takes a few mixes to get the right shade but try a few colours like grey, black or brown to get the correct colour tone.
what is color of the beams? Stain or paint, and what color?
a mix of epoxy resin and colored chips. Poured onto the slab in a layer that's 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch thick, it is quicker to install. Thinset terrazzo also offers a wider range of color choices, is lighter in weight, has a impervious finish and cracks less. The only downside to the epoxy resin base

Is there a crack in the concrete floor in this picture? If so, was it intended, or related to the weight of the fireplace? Thx
thank you for your question. There are a few cracks in this, and all concrete floors. It is part of the nature of this material, and it becomes part of the surface's character. The cracks here were filled with a special filling epoxy and were then ground and polished with the floor. In this photo, the
