Low windows in front of Kitchen base cabinets
what does it look like from the exterior of the house?
I have a similar situation and have also been told by my architect, designer and GC that putting the cabinets in front of my long windows would be a bad idea. I can't seem to find any pictures of the "back" of the counter/cabinet. Do you happen to know if there are any

This house used to be a little warren of tiny rooms, but these architects blew out all the walls and made it one big space.

It creates an entryway for our HH house.
Bookshelf creates perception of entryway in homes where front door opens straight into living room
Love the separation by front door
To separate Living/Dining Areas from front door
1. Large area rug. is placed in this open entry area and provide a space for guests to take off their shoes and lead them into other parts of the house.2. Built-in units. The open nature of this unit keeps the brightness from the window and sidelights on the door. This strategy works great as a divider
Make an entrance. This is another design by Neal Schwartz. "We needed to add just a bit of formality to this ranch house, although we couldn’t create a truly separate entry foyer," he says. "Here, the bookshelves are accessed from both sides of the room and give the entry

Lake Forest Park Renovation

Questions9
The Lake Forest Park Renovation is a top-to-bottom renovation of a 50's Northwest Contemporary house located 25 miles north of Seattle.
What is the estimated cost of this house?
have the specific figures for the Lake Forest Park house with me, but I can give you some general numbers. The living/dining/kitchen space for our projects typically is between 1000-1300 SF. The overall window and exterior door budget for a 3000 SF house is usually between $100-$125K. The exterior door
door number can go higher depending on the number of oversized glass "lift-slide" doors, which are quite expensive. A custom front door can be anywhere from $4K to $10K.

height corner windows erodes the solidity of the house, opening it to the outside. The porch, beyond the living room, stretches the house into the landscape, the transition anchored with the double-fronted fireplace. The modern vocabulary of the house is a careful delineation of the parts - cantilevering
physically) disengaged from ceiling, wall and floor. It's the movement through the volumes of space, along surfaces, and out into the landscape, that unifies the house.
The new house sits back from the suburban road, a pipe-stem lot hidden in the trees. The owner/building had requested a modern, clean statement of his residence. A single rectangular volume houses the main program: living, dining, kitchen to the north, garage, private bedrooms and baths to the south
