have at least 32" to pull out from the table. In this case, we went a bit farther for the wall, so as to allow for the depths of the floating wall shelves.
wood shelves on south or back wall
I like the shelves for our bedroom
this space, dark wood shelves make a nice contrast against a crisp blue wall color. TIP: Rooms that face south can feel very warm because they receive sunlight all day long. Light blue or green walls are a great way to cool down rooms with a southern exposure.

These wooden bowls come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors, but the material they have in common with each other (and the shelves and the table) keeps things copacetic. I think that's the first time I've ever used the word "copacetic" on Houzz.
So, you don't have two large back-lit display cases? Put sturdy shelves above a buffet or built-in cabinet and fill with a collection of sculptural bowls. The light celery-green walls are a perfect backdrop to all these

Where can I find the shelves?
I love the floating cabinet under the shelves!
Those are beautiful custom shelves that EJ Design had made. But there is a more affordable way to get a similar look. You can purchase floating shelves $19.99 each at Ikea,
run the cord through the center of the shelf for the light. Bellow is a link to purchase the shelves. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/living_room/20658/

This is fantasitc use of the 3 windows. I just love the shelves. Open yet private as well.
Open shelves in front of windows.
Shelves in front of dining room window?
fussy cafe curtains and upper cabinets with unadorned windows and open shelving.
Out of cabinetry but not out of dishes? Don’t let a wall of windows stop you from utilizing storage. Display your dishware by installing shelving across the windows; the natural light on the pieces will create a showcase
If your kitchen feels restrictive and your cabinets are getting in the way of natural light, removing them may be a good option. Replace them with shelving for storing your dishware. Your space will open up and your beautiful dishes will be the center of attention.

The Shelving by the Door gives me an Ideal on how to arrange My Collectables!!
Storage; feels more personal although not that practical for shoes
could be used for shoe storage
see through shelves allow light through
for guests to take off their shoes and lead them into other parts of the house.2. Built-in units. The open nature of this unit keeps the brightness from the window and sidelights on the door. This strategy works great as a divider for other rooms as well.
Shelves can provide the floor-to-ceiling separation and storage, while still connecting spaces via openings in the back. This beautifully made example creates an entry vestibule separate from the living area of the home.
Define the space. Does your entry open onto a large room? Create an entry area with bookcases, cabinets or a screen. Open shelves can be used for accessories, keys or family photos.
