Love the mantle! Is this a barn wood beam? What is the thickness?
where can i find that mantel
Any place that sells reclaimed wood, would have a beam similar to this. It is a hand hewn beam...this one was more than likely stained.
Etoya...you can get a mantel like this from Manomin Timbers in Hugo.
Love the fireplace Mantel. I live in Minneapolis. Where can i order this mantel from? Could you please direct me to the right place/ person to get it. Thanks much.

What type of wood did you use for the mantel? I love the contrast of the painted finish with the natural look of the wood mantel. Great job!
What material specifically is the panel type wood above the mantle?
Hi, sorry we didn't answer this question earlier. But the wood in the middle is rough cedar. It was whitewashed and then sanded back down and stained a bit more. It was custom done for us by a local craftsman
Architecturaldepot (on line) has hundreds. All prices in Urethane and wood. All pictured with exact measurements
I would want use more rustic wood but I like the facade above

Love your fireplace mantel and surround! Would you mind sharing the tile work for the surround and also where you purchased the mantel? Thanks!
proportions, I'm going to venture that the mantel was custom built for the project. The tile work is a beautiful complement, and I believe you will be able to find something similar from a local source. Here is a similar mantel (http://www.pearlmantels.com/jeff.html), with flat panel legs and a similar level
Thanks for the info coastroad. You are correct, this mantel is custom made.
I'd put stone where the green tile is and I'd have a bigger mantel but I like it...put my circular mirror and the 2 sconces that are currently in the living room at 72 Teddington

details make this a dining room that welcomes you and encourages you to linger. Note how the backs of the chairs mimic both the curved pieces above the mantel and the shape of the firescreen. To achieve this look, tone down anything too modern and streamlined. Instead, find a few great wooden antique pieces

never seen. This is true "faux" at it's finest. Fireplace stones that were never stone.... awkward endcuts on wood that previously blared as unfinished lines and details to attend to. Faux wood finishes and cabinetry/furniture finishes to look like they've been there foreever and aged gracefully with

fine original woodwork is worth the effort. Wood is becoming more and more expensive, and the level of craftsmanship in older homes is much higher than what you typically find in a new construction. This may include floors, trim, molding, fireplace mantels, bookcases, china cabinets, staircases and more

Can you tell me about the mantle...what type of wood and how attached? Thank you!
