Before purchasing their early 20th-century Prairie-style home, perfect in so many ways for their growing family, the parents asked LiLu whether its imperfections could be remedied. Specifically, they were sad to leave a kid-focused happy home full of color, pattern, texture, and durability thanks to LiLu. Could the new house, with lots of woodwork, be made brighter and lighter? Of course. In the living areas, LiLu selected a high-gloss turquoise paint that reflects light for selected cabinets and the fireplace surround; the color complements original handmade blue-green tile in the home. Graphic floral and abstract prints, and furnishings and accessories in lively shades of pink, were layered throughout to create a bright, playful aesthetic. Elsewhere, staircase spindles were painted turquoise to bring out their arts-and-craft design and heighten the abstract wallpaper and striped runner. Wallpaper featuring 60s-era superheroes, metallic butterflies, cartoon bears, and flamingos enliven other rooms of the house. In the kitchen, an orange island adds zest to cream-colored cabinets and brick backsplash. The family’s new home is now their happy home. ------ Project designed by Minneapolis interior design studio LiLu Interiors. They serve the Minneapolis-St. Paul area including Wayzata, Edina, and Rochester, and they travel to the far-flung destinations that their upscale clientele own second homes in. ------ For more about LiLu Interiors, click here: https://www.liluinteriors.com/ ---- To learn more about this project, click here: https://www.liluinteriors.com/blog/portfolio-items/posh-playhouse-2-kitchen/

A COLLECTED CONSCIOUSNESS more photos at http://www.kylacoburndesigns.com/mysterioso-nbc-jimmy-fallon-dressing-room Visit the private hideaway of an eclectic renaissance man - a room inspired by a small, dark, antique-store-found oil painting of John Lennon. His friends’ portraits are on the wall - Jimmy as ‘Lord Fallon’, Bob Dylan, Christopher Walkin, Iggy Pop, Alan Rickman and Frank Zappa - ironically reimagined as military leaders. More portraits of his gypsie and snake charmer lovers rest on his desk. Enter Mysterioso and you’re surrounded by a collection that reveals humility and a contemplative nature… touched by dark humor. Collected beetles, miniature operettas, rescued theater seats, sculptural taxidermy forms, vintage science journals and masonic nods, a nutcracker crafted in the shape of a woman’s legs… all with Joan Baez playing on the gramophone. “This room has so many favorite details - I am in love with Mysterioso. I gave this room my WWI bud vase made from bullet casings, and a niche shelf I carried home from Morocco. We filled that shelf with miniature 3D-printed busts we made of The Roots.” - Kyla Deep Dive Design Notes Vintage cookbook collection

Plans and construction administrative services for their first custom home in Fullerton were completed in the late 90's. Our office completed landscape plans, including sighting the home footprint on the lot, for their second custom home in 2005 and were again retained to administer the bidding and construction phases for this project. The landscape style of this oversized lot is very natural with artistic highlights that are meaningful to the client. Features designed include: large custom pool with spa, water features, pool house patio, outdoor fireplace, outdoor kitchen, vine covered arbors with walkways throughout the property, open and covered verandahs, play areas, horse corral, vegetable garden with composting and recycling features, orchard, chicken and rabbit houses, outdoor storage areas, overflow parking, privacy walls and plantings creating many different garden styles, extensive landscape lighting, and a beautiful courtyard featuring a fish and turtle pond.
