countertop would be too blah with the light oak cabinets and white appliances?
@homelaura- not sure if I ever answered you. If I were doing this home from scratch, I would likely put in a natural walnut floor or would make the oak floor a dark walnut color. You could also use
If I were starting from scratch, I would do either an oak floor stained in more of a walnut color, or use an actual walnut floor. Something darker to give contrast to the cabinetry. I love the warmth of wood

This side cabinet and counter top with the shelf would be ok for sink area of a Jack and Jill bath.
Don't really like this cabinet but would like something similar in downstairs bath, furniture piece made into cabinet flor sink.
Some surfaces of vintage pieces naturally lend themselves nicely to being used as a sink...like the marble top on this gorgeous antique oak cabinet. I wonder if this was a dry sink prior to being made into a real "wet" sink. The mirror above is just perfect. Absolutely beautiful!

Painted black (Beluga by Behr) outdated oak cabinets
How were you able to paint the cabinets without the grain of the oak coming through?
What kind of paint is used on the cabinets and what kind of sheen?
in what sheen on the cabinets? I like how this doesn't have a lot of shine to it.
experience, you have to do many, many coats of paint to cover the oak grain so that the paint fills the grain to the point of hiding it. That said, I think it 's nice to see a bit of grain sometimes so that it actually looks like a wood cabinet.
