I also have light oak cabinets and need help choosing a countertop. I want something light too. Not a dark granite. any suggestions

The cabinets are Decora..Leyden style in Cobblestone Gray color...The stainless steel subway tile was from Lowes.
Red oak hardwood. Minwax stain in Classic Gray. Three coats of satin poly. Hope that helps:)
will say that this wood is red oka and when the gray gets scratched, it is light and noticeable. I still love it though:)

I am using Cambria quartz (Torquay) for my kitchen counter - marble looking. Problem is the island counter. My island is 60 x 72 and I am not sure what
quartz does not come in that width and the ones that do don't match the Torquay. Other than marble, can you suggest a stone for the island. Right now
