9. Don't karate chop. Whatever you do, don't karate-chop your pillows. No exceptions. Why do people do this? Nobody knows. Maybe it's thought that it makes the pillows look less contrived

The karate-chopped pillows I first saw in Germany many years ago. Later the style made it's way here. I think you are part right. The square pillows to me look okay
All the pillows have been karate-chopped. Just stop with that. It looks foolish.
