Inspiration for an eclectic deck remodel in Baltimore with a pergola

Up on the deck, a top-of-the-line outdoor kitchen boasts granite counters, a huge grill, a refrigerator and ice maker, and a tap. A small seating area is sheltered by draped fabric above that adds a punch of color and shade on sunny days.

Concept, construction documents and interior design by Brett Marlo DeSantis, this exterior family room features a modern fireplace, a wood burning pizza oven, built-in bench with storage, two sets of narrow french doors that connect the interior dining room with this exterior gathering area. A local artist was commissioned to create the metal divider screen that abstracts the madrona silohuette to keep the privacy of the master suite on the other side while also allowing air flow. The concrete floor was poured with this large scale design in mind, stamped, stained and sealed.

Step up deck and pergola added to our stamped concrete patio for additional space, privacy and shade. We added 2/6 dollar drop cloths and firring strips to the top of the pergola beams to hold them down instead of spending 44 dollars a yard on Sunbrella Fabric. Even if we have to buy new ones every year, it's a better deal!
