I have almost zero standard kitchen cabinetry in my kitchen. Just antique pieces (such as a Hoosier cabinet for larger storage) mixed with open shelving. I love it! You just have to be a little more mindful about not allowing things to clutter since you can't hide it, but that is not such a bad thing
