ledgestone fireplace is modernized with a hearth and mantel by Concreteworks. Designed by David Wilson. Photo By: Art Gray for California Home + Design
custom fireplace, like so many of our favorites, was made by Concreteworks, a fabrication and design firm in Oakland, California. The rustic sensibility of the hearth balances the more streamlined elements throughout the rest of the open living space.

My fireplace surround is old and has been "updated" ... But looks definitely homemade. My house was built in the early 1920s. I don't want it to look too modern, but don't want it to be too "1920s" either! Help! Go with wood surround? Limestone? Have tall, vaulted ceilings
