4. Make use of vertical space. Chalkboards, climbing walls and buckets of toys can be hung from garden walls and fences, making them less visually obtrusive in a small garden.

7. Use one surface material. If you have multifunctional areas, use one material to unify the spaces. “Small spaces need that cohesion,” says Arthur

If you have a smaller dining area in mind, a small table paired with a loveseat is a great casual dining option. I love how this setup is nestled among the garden and accessorized with bird cages, bird houses, and other outdoor knickknacks. These accessories add a personal touch and can be changed out

I'm looking to enclose an area. We already have the overhang so space is limited.
The front enclosed area is a 7' by 5' 6'' . As you go up the stairs into that " mud room " you can go straight inside the house or by a door on the right side ,to the open porch ( 16' by 13' ) . I did built that porch around a flowering tree that

cut-out detail on fence is lovely

Is this a fence with lattice screening in front of it?
I'm wondering how you achieved the fencing effect here. Can you tell me the source of the fencing/lattice screen materials? It looks lovely.
These are 6" posts with a simple board fence in the background to which the lattice was added overtop and then painted a traditional British garden green. This is all custom.

Arbor in front of fence for clematis to climb
I like the lattice work in front of the fence
raised planter wall in front of fence. trellis on fence
I like the two layers of fence and lots of plants in a small space.
On a smaller scale, plants can work in conjunction with fences or walls to expand their height. This may be done with small, ornamental trees or large shrubs. Place them as needed for screening small spaces. Japanese maple (Acer palmatum, zones 5 to 8, shown here) serviceberry (Amelanchier spp), cornelian

What is the screening on the fence and where can it be purchased?
It looks like the shadow box style fence.

make concrete built-in seating in firepit area - add thick cushions in fade-free fabric on top fo ed comfort
4. Designate zones. Outdoor area rugs can help designate zones for different activities. In the image shown here, the rug is used to warm up the seating area but opens up to the cafe-height table as well.
