on any furniture in the space as well. I suggest leaving 6 to 12 inches of exposed floor around the rug...sometimes even 18 inches in a larger room. If your entry has no furniture, then 6 to 12 inches of exposed floor would work. There is not a hard and fast rule of thumb because furniture placement
The width of the entry rug depends on the width of the entry area, not the width of the door. I recommend leaving 6 to 12 inches of exposed floor on either side of the entry rug. Good luck!
