able to paint with a semi-transparent glaze (made by Ben Moore for outdoors in several shades) or take lime powder and mix with water to get a pancake batter-like consistency and put directly on top of the existing wood. If not, sand well. If you used lime you will need to apply a flat polyurethane coating
arent paint or glaze"? Does someone know exactly how this was achieved? This look is breathtaking. Also I'd love any advice for using this in an office - would this work if ceiling is vaulted/white with reclaimed beams and dark chestnut floors? Or should pecky cypress be used on the ceiling with

did you distress the piano without damaging it?
Did you buy it this way or distress it yourself? Thanks so much!

wild DIY paint job on an old piano to play off a map theme in my office. It manages to work alongside more rustic vintage pieces, such as the entry bench to the right and a rusty metal wheel at the top of the stairs. I like the look of this room with the ceiling painted. How do you select which rooms to paint ceilings and with doing so, does it make the room feel larger or smaller? Also should you go for darker color on the ceiling compared to the wall? - thanks in advance
I LOVE painting ceilings darker than walls ... this room actually has the same color on the ceiling as the walls. I think when you do this, again just in my opinion, you need some type of trim to define the wall

white distressed doors and clock, think of how the room would be recreated with an enormous and bright piece of art vintage gas station sign. The key is to do something that seems a bit off or unexpected to recreate the room.

wanting to paint it a color similar to this for months now...but have been too afraid b/c of fear of it being too dark making the room look cave-like. My ceilings will remain a light cream color and my sofa is cream colored as well.

Light Distressing. My client bought the chair next to the oval table from Therien & Co. in San Francisco when they first opened on Sutter St around 1988. It is a Regency Style Armchair. A good reproduction can start at about $900.00. (Info courtesy of my client. Thank you, Jorge.)
Inspiration here: do we need to paint metal poles in clubhouse a different color???
