What type of floors/stain is this? Also, what color is the island?
How much space is between the counter and the island?
wanting to do a table next to our island but decided against it b/c we have 42" b/t counter and island and didnt want the chair to back up right against the cabinets. I'd be interested to know the space and how it works for you.
The island is approximately 42" wide and 80" long.
The floors are character grade hickory with only a clear coat european tinted stain that both cleans and maintains the color. The island is painted in Benjamin Moore paint but it is a Farrow and Ball color called "arsenic".
I like the white walls, white kitchen, wood floors, with color coming in accents from island, wallpaper and art.

Can u tell me the dimensions of the island? In your opinion, with just a couple of barstools could one get away with a width of 39 inches for an island for couple of people?
I was wondering if this island is custom? If not, where was it purchased?
keep this in mind -- you need at least 3' clearance around an island in the places you intend to walk. if you float it in the middle of the floor and you want to be able to walk all around it you obviously need a bigger space. this island is on casters b/c i had a large enough kitchen to have it in

Custom book shelves in DR. Double purpose
Make dining rooms multi-functional rooms. By adding a library to your dining room it creates a more useful space. Luxury combo shown here.
When space is tight, always ask yourself: How can I use this room for two purposes instead of one? Here a dining room doubles as a library. It saves space, and nothing warms up a room like a wall of books.

How do you determine which kitchen island shape is best for your space?
What color is the granite in this island?
chocolate and cream Quartz for the island top and dark brown wood for the cabinets. My dilemma -- one side of my U-shaped kitchen is a curved wall -- convex at that! (the curve juts out into the kitchen.) The architect has designed several interesting shapes for the island top, adhering to the curve, but
but they all look very organic and "Star Trek" modern to me. Is it OK to use a rectangle shaped island in a strangely shaped room?
...then I consider entrances and exits from the room and allow for pathways in between. Then I consider the size of cabinetry and function of an island - I prefer not to go deeper than 4' since there would be wasted space between the backs of 24" cabinets... ...but I never use just a 24" deep cabinet

home kitchens? They are very inexpensive when compared to other island options. I want to use one in our traditional kitchen, but will warm it up with baskets and some type of light fixture and possibly wooden dressers or smaller wooden islands booking each end. I'm getting a lot of resistance from everyone
Hello, I'm curious; the legs on this kitchen island are different (nicer) than the Cucina Tavalo Flat Top Work Table legs that is sourced. Were they modified? Thanks!

a U-shaped kitchen by adding a freestanding island to an L-shaped kitchen. In this case, the one end cabinet was turned to face away from the kitchen, and a beadboard end panel was added to allow for a place to intersect the open island. Because the island is open, you have knee space for stools and
