I have about a 7f tX 7ft area that I want to make into a pond/waterfall. I have already collected a few big flat rocks to start and dug out a place to start it.
step down pond from the waterfall to the main pond with gravel that I plugged with store purchased watercress. It would capture the detritus and fish waste and use it as fertilizer and I had a sparkling clean pond.
running dry is not ideal and can cause failure, however the fish will still have a place to swim. Since the pump can and should run 24 -7 it is always pulling debris across the surface and catching it in the skimmer basket. This eliminates leaves and other debris getting saturated and sinking to the bottom

Love the broken "Fiestaware" backsplash. I would have to play with the handles sticking out!
I love this mosaic. And the big bins of herbs growing right there. So pretty.
broken Fiestaware and other ceramic fragments. Little handles jut out of the mosaic, begging to be touched.
This is a neat back splash, but I would want the cup handles pointing out so you could hook things to them. Even a grill can use a backsplash
sometimes. Terry and Jo Vaughan crafted a unique and colorful mosaic backsplash from broken Fiestaware and other ceramic fragments. Little handles jut out of the mosaic, begging to be touched. The grill sits outside their abode, a former pretzel factory in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.
