Lovely space! Would you say that this is an 8 ft. ceiling in this room? I'd like to do the same ceiling in my kitchen but was wondering if 8 ft is too low?

Wonder if it would possible to replace those side panels and the spindles with fresh stained wood that matches steps, and simple darker wood hand rails that match the banister on the walls? The look would be better, and the lead abated completely in that area. That is something to think about
