I love the idea of cupboards under the stairs. HARRY POTTER FTW!
I like the idea for the under stairs storage
Storage under the stairs is a neat idea
were painted blue to protect the house from evil. Polish custom once dictated that all houses for women about to be married be painted blue.I like the idea of a blue door — it feels solid and trustworthy to me.

Any ideas on the colors of the walls?
Are you speaking of the vertical lines in the wall? This is called bead board paneling and can be nailed to the wall and then painted. Here is an idea book with other examples: http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/202792/list/Bead-board

Like the idea of a couch to make the mud room feel cozy. Plants and rug
like the idea of a bench or chair separate from hooks on the wall. And maybe use the
great idea for a wide wall way
I like the idea of using the settee, or any kind of bench, in place of the built-ins.

A physical system that’s helpful for kids is a great entryway. If you want your little ones to come in, take off their shoes and begin their homework, set up an space that makes it easy for them to do just that. Provide hooks for coats, cubbies for shoes and book bags, and an invitation for your kiddos

option, a Dutch door (in which the top and the bottom part of the door operate separately) can add a distinctly English cottage feel. It also keeps kids and pets out of a workspace while still letting light and air in.Paint the door crisp white or pick up one of the lovely chalky colors by English paint

LOVE this kind of door that splits in the middle (easy way to keep kids/dogs out or in). Not for front door though. Maybe in kitchen/greatroom area??
Idea for Playhouse - on a smaller scale (dutch door plus windows).
Love this custom made Dutch door, the idea would also be great for the kitchen door leading to a patio/grilling area.
