We did not install a float vlalve because of potential overflow issues if the valve malfunctioned and liability. However, if you do install a float valve

w/this floor pattern. or lack of pattern? Love the random sizes. We need kitchen floor that will withstand heavy traffic - have worried about grout lines
every few years to keep it from fading and inside, we only did it when we install and have not done it again as there is no direct sun on the wood.
We installed the wood similar to how it was installed outside... it is 6" tongue and groove redwood siding
reason why grout joints are usually bigger is because it is much easier to install that way (read much cheaper as well). I don't think you need it for expansion

how did you install these doors in a closet without a frame?
I assume that these are PAX closet doors from IKEA. How did you install these on a frameless
door- it is made of cherry wood, this is why the color looks rich, you can install it as a regular swing door or as I did inside a concealed pocket track hardware
