Weedy mess, dirty roof. Good design just neglected.
approach to landscape design as dictated by architects. Those little plants popping up add charm and a lived in look. Why does everything have to be sterile? You asked if this home is being lived in and I would say yes...because it looks like it.
The landscape designer planted all the plants you see here. Some of them are just small. I think he intentionally wanted it to be informal. Yes the roof has the pollen from the oak trees -- a yearly phenomenon in Austin. Thanks for your comment. --Tom Hurt

this is actually a real copper metal panel - seamed together in a tile pattern w/ a custom patina that was applied in the shop. there are pre-finished panels with this look like those from Alpolic, but they are about the same cost i think.
concrete - pergola - metal and wood
wall... also idea of metal veneer over concrete wall in some areas to break up mass of wall
interesting pergola where you want it. seems like it COULD even be hung in such a way that you could change the position.
This last example, by Coates Design Architects Seattle, illustrates how oxidized copper can be a design statement, bringing attention to one area, in this case the entrance. Even though the copper section is much smaller than the wood and concrete, its color grabs the most attention.
