but even galvanized metal manufacturers state that it will eventually demonstrate rust. Did this factor into the material choice at all (bare vs. painted finish). I am considering a similar treatment on a project.

project! Sorry for the delayed response, we had to do some digging to come up with the right formula. The paint is Glyptex Eggshell Pastel Base, and the formula is "C2L4." It is an oil paint that does an excellent job of maintaining its color and laid nicely on the original trim of this old home.
