we have painted cedar, woodpeckers do peck at it in florida.
i've asked the same question. I think it depends on the part of the country. In the midwest, I am told that woodpeckers, etc. will peck into untreated cedar for nesting. So I guess that is so. Iv'e never hear this on the east coast where

Untreated cedar that would look even better with a wood brightener and a coating of Superdeck Cedar UV protectant stain.
