Rwilson--not sure why you can't find solid-colored black and white marble! It's been a classic for thousands of years! Nero marquino (black) and thassos (white) are both solid and beautiful, and I'm sure there are others.
Thassos white marble and Absolute black granite. I'm currently putting this in my home, and have been told this is what everyone uses. Solid black marble tiles are hard to find! In fact, I'm not sure there actually is a solid black marble. I have looked and can't find it. Nero Marquino black marble
