Exterior space is rare in the city. Create a private oasis by creating a small decking platform. A small iron bistro is perfect for your early morning coffee.

To help boost the home's street presence, and tie the contemporary feel inside to the outside, a new overhang and trellis was added to the front facade. New pavers replace and broken and sinking concrete pad, and new mulch sits where future landscaping will be added to make the entrance even more inviting.

Mechanism Architecture
On a steeply sloping site overlooking the Klickitat River, this single family residence is partially embedded in the land. A rhythmic pattern of windows through every room provide views to the south over the 20 acre parcel of land.
The entire structure of the house is comprised of prefabricated insulated aerated concrete panels, with the earthy-colored concrete making up the exterior. Simple design and repetition of structure allow for quick fabrication and airy spaces featuring generous twelve foot high ceilings. A simple interior palette of off-white plaster, site-milled oak, and polished concrete is toned down, creating an environment for slowing and relaxation. This all adds up to a place of complete luxury on a budget.

Red Exterior Home Ideas
Harris Household
We had to re-address many areas of terrible stucco patchwork, and repair cracks from house shifting over the last 90 years. We used contrasting browns and tans on the trim and windows to allow the house to shine from its former days. We also gutted and re-built the rear addition (which was previously made of a recalled siding,) we re-built it with corrugated metal siding and a huge corner window that we found at a home re-store. The birds of paradise my husband planted along the side of the house filled in the blank space between the house and the driveway.
